De Young Breaks Ground On Eighth St. Jude Dream Home
This spring, De Young Properties began construction for the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home to be given away to a lucky winner this November. The Groundbreaking Ceremony and De Young Miracle March, covered live by KMPH Fox 26, included major donor and builder De Young Properties, trade partners, patient family members and volunteers. The 3,100 sq. ft. home on an expansive 10,845 square foot homesite in the De Young CountrySide community located on Armstrong just north of Ashlan in Clovis will be offered as the first place prize to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to fight cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
One hundred percent of the proceeds of the giveaway are donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Serving as major donor and builder of the St. Jude Dream Home for the past seven years, De Young Properties has successfully raised over $6.5 million for the hospital to date. This year, 11,000 tickets will be available in the hopes of raising $1,100,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works around the clock to develop cures to save the lives of boys and girls, including children in the San Joaquin Valley.
“We strongly believe in our responsibility to help others, and our entire De Young team is grateful to our community’s continued support of our business so we are honored to be a donor and builder of our eighth St. Jude Dream Home in this war against childhood cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital positively affects the lives of families across the country, in addition to giving us the opportunity to change the life of a local family,” said Paula De Young of De Young Properties. “This amazing pediatric research center, that not only treats life threatening cases in children, also freely gives guidance to doctors around the world and here in the Central Valley.”
The 2014 St. Jude Dream Home will be a part of the award-winning Clovis school district and offers five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a formal dining room. The winner’s dreams will come true with the home’s long list of special features, including a beautiful Italianate elevation with stone accents, natural granite counters, stainless steel General Electric appliances with gas cook top and an Energy Star-rated dishwasher. In addition, the home offers eco-friendly and elegant Brizo premium faucets, an Energy Star-rated Rinnai tankless water heater, premium-grade hardwood and 18” tile floors by Shaw Flooring, spacious 11’ ceilings and 8’ doors, professional front and back yard landscaping and Energy-efficient Eagle Brand tile roofs.
As with all De Young EnergySmart homes, the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home is designed to maximize energy savings while offering quality craftsmanship and true comfort. This energy-efficient home will come with a host of earth-friendly features and apply green building practices that create a healthy environment in which we live. These building practices include high energy efficiency standards, improved indoor air quality, water conservation and utilizing sustainable building practices. In addition, De Young EnergySmart™ homes have independent inspections for third-party review.
The De Young team enjoyed sharing the 2013 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign with the witty and vivacious Cash Shank. His humor and energetic spirit during the campaign was a constant reminder of why St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is such an important place. In February, Cash lost his battle to Brain Cancer. In loving memory of our Superhero Cash Shank, De Young Properties pledges to dedicate our time, treasure and resources to the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home. Cash will continue to inspire our spirits and resolves to fight the war against cancer.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting August 15th and you can tour the Dream Home beginning in late September. The winner will be announced on KMPH FOX 26 on Sunday, November 9th.
